Art prize for painting 2022

“Ladies and gentlemen,
we are pleased to announce the winner of the art prize for painting 2022, in the association of Berlin artists with funding from the A and A Kulturstiftung. On October 21, 2022, LUPE GODOY received an award for the work from the “Bridges” series.
“As a reason, it says: In her work, Lupe Godoy explores the antagonism of nature and technology, of abstraction and realism, of depiction and fantasy, of flourishing life and dystopian gray in such a way that it coagulates into an image of existence. The composition is pervaded by different temporal levels as well as different spatial dimensions. It evokes memories of fantastic realism, as well as Max Ernst and Hieronymus Bosch. Even if it cannot be named specifically, creatures seem to be lurking in this nature, which is not free from horror.
The bridge runs hard and smooth through the middle ground. From where to where does it actually lead? The scenery is deserted. As with Caspar David Friedrich, one looks at nature, framed, gazes into the depths, admiring, full of beauty, but without any hope of salvation. Yellow lights from heaven run through the picture as mysterious bodies, glowing like distant messengers from space. It’s really not a nice picture, and it’s not a nice bridge either.
The urgency that underlies this enigmatic picture also seems to find a correspondence in the painting ground. This ground, assembled from dissimilar boxes, seems provisional, as if it were about making a spontaneous message that is aware of its own randomness and transience.
Not standstill, but development was a criterion for the jury in their assessment. I hope we will be able to see many more pictures of you, dear Ms. Godoy.”

Kunstpreis für Malerei 2022
mit Förderung durch die A und A Kulturstiftung
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
liebe Freunde der Galerie Verein Berliner Künstler
wir freuen uns, die Preisträgerin des Kunstpreises für Malerei 2022, im Verein Berliner Künstler mit Förderung durch die A und A Kulturstiftung bekanntzugeben. Für die Arbeit aus der Serie „Brücken“ wurde am 21.10.2022 LUPE GODOY ausgezeichnet.
„Zur Begründung heißt es: Lupe Godoy lotet in ihrer Arbeit den Antagonismus von Natur und Technik, von Abstraktion und Realismus, von Abbild und Fantasie, von blühendem Leben und dystopischem Grau in einer Weise aus, das er zu einem Bild von Existenz gerinnt. Von verschiedenen zeitlichen Ebenen ebenso wie von unterschiedlichen räumlichen Dimensionen ist die Komposition durchzogen. Sie weckt Erinnerungen an den fantastischen Realismus, ebenso wie an Max Ernst oder Hieronymus Bosch. Auch wenn es nicht konkret zu benennen ist, so scheinen doch Wesen in dieser Natur zu lauern, die nicht frei ist von Grusel.
Die Brücke durchzieht hart und glatt den Mittelgrund. Von wo nach wo führt sie eigentlich? Menschenleer ist die Szenerie. Wie bei Caspar David Friedrich erschaut auf eine Natur, eingerahmt, den Blick in die Tiefe geführt, bewundernd, voller Schönheit, jedoch ohne jede Hoffnung auf Erlösung. Gelbe Himmelslichter durchziehen das Bild als rätselhafte Körper, glühend wie ferne Boten aus dem All. Die ist wahrlich kein nettes Bild, und es ist auch keine nette Brücke.
Die Dringlichkeit, die diesem verrätselten Bild zugrunde liegt, scheint auch im Malgrund eine Entsprechung zu finden. Provisorisch wirkt dieser aus ungleichen Kartons zusammengefügte Grund, als gälte es, eine spontane Mitteilung zu machen, die um ihre eigene Zufälligkeit und Vergänglichkeit weiß.
Nicht Stillstand, sondern Entwicklung war ein Kriterium für die Jury bei Ihrer Beurteilung. Ich hoffe, wir werden noch viele weitere Bilder von Ihnen sehen können, liebe Frau Godoy.“

Queridos amigos de la Asociación de Galerías de Artistas de Berlín
nos complace anunciar el ganador del premio de arte de pintura 2022, en la asociación de artistas de Berlín con fondos de A and A Kulturstiftung. El 21 de octubre de 2022, LUPE GODOY recibió un premio por el trabajo de la serie “Puentes”.
“Como razón, dice: En su obra, Lupe Godoy explora el antagonismo de la naturaleza y la tecnología, de la abstracción y el realismo, de la representación y la fantasía, de la vida floreciente y el gris distópico de tal manera que se coagula en una imagen de la existencia. La composición está impregnada de diferentes niveles temporales así como de diferentes dimensiones espaciales. Evoca recuerdos del realismo fantástico, así como de Max Ernst y Hieronymus Bosch. Aunque no pueda nombrarse específicamente, las criaturas parecen estar al acecho en esta naturaleza, que no está libre de horror.
El puente corre definido y suave en un plano medio. ¿De dónde a dónde conduce realmente? El paisaje está desierto. Como en el caso de Caspar David Friedrich, uno mira la naturaleza, enmarcada, contempla las profundidades, admirado, lleno de belleza, pero sin ninguna esperanza de salvación. Las luces amarillas del cielo atraviesan la imagen como cuerpos misteriosos, brillando como mensajeros lejanos del espacio. Realmente no es una imagen tranquilizadora como tampoco lo es el puente.
La urgencia que subyace a este enigmático cuadro también parece encontrar una correspondencia en el soporte pictórico. Este soporte, ensamblado a partir de piezas disímiles, parece provisional, como si se tratara de la urgencia de plasmar un mensaje espontáneo, consciente de su propia aleatoriedad y fugacidad.
Dinamismo, desarrollo, fue uno de los criterio para el jurado en su evaluación. Espero que podamos ver muchas más fotos suyas, querida señora Godoy”.
